As we know, four parties, members of the ANC – National Renaissance led by former defense minister Vagharshak Harutyunyan, Motherland and Dignity Party led by Garnik Margaryan, Christian-Democratic Renaissance led by Sos Gimishyan and Armenian Volunteers’ Union led by Zhirayr Sefilyan and represented in the Congress political council by former mayor of Goris Samvel Harutyunyan – have denied being involved in the pre-election alliance of the Congress.
Although there was a preliminary agreement that before these parties prepared an official statement and made it, there would be no comments, nonetheless, there was a “leak” from the ANC office as early as on Friday. The parties, however, don’t make any comments on the reasons. Samvel Harutyunyan, a representative of the Armenian Volunteers’ Union, said during a conversation with www.aravot.am that the text of the statement would be ready soon, only after which they would make comments and explanations. Motherland and Dignity Party leader Garnik Margaryan said that he would go into details only when the ANC list was already made public. Both of them stated, however, that they hadn’t made a decision to leave the Congress.
According to the information of www.aravot.am, the reason for such a decision is that the representatives and members of these four units demanded that the ANC used the upcoming parliamentary election for reaching a snap presidential election, making respective tactical and strategic changes in its activities and made a statement from the beginning, regardless of the election results, that it would refuse assuming the offices. However, the ANC central office representatives who will be included in the ANC list and leaders of the other parties were against that position, preferring participation in the parliamentary election and as a result, use of the seats that will be obtained in the parliamentary work, although they constantly claim that they participate in the election not for seats.

Our interlocutors avoided making comments on this information yet. They will speak only after the official statement is made. Arman Musinyan, the ANC press coordinator, promised to make a comment later on.
Garnik Margaryan, the leader of the Motherland and Dignity Party, said earlier, making a comment on their decision to deny involvement in the ANC list during a conversation with A1+, “We signed the Congress Declaration and we have struggled for reaching snap parliamentary and presidential elections during this time. Going for a regular election is against our principles.”
