Frontier Villages Should Be Supported, and Not Resettled

March 05,2012 13:13

Qajaran Villager Lyova Arzoumanyan is pleased with Ombudsman’s proposals to Armenian PM by 90%.  He is concerned with the fact that Karen Andreasyan didn’t mention the resettlement of Qajaran Village in his proposals. ‘The conclusion of the committee set up the government says that’ the mine development results in the village settlement.’

Reminder: Ombudsman Karen Andreasyan made an appeal to PM to recognize government decision № 627 dated on 28.04.2011, which prescribes the recognition of land areas of 6 villages, including 181.7 ha of Qajaran Village as ’eminent public domain’ for transferring them to Zangezour Copper and Molybdenum Combine. ‘I would like the government to pay attention to the village development, to improving life in the village. Qajaran is a frontier village, and like all frontier territories it should be supported, paying particular attention to the fact that we are in cold war,’ Arzoumanyan said.
