www.aravot.am inquired from Lyudmila Sargsyan, the SDHP chairman, whether the SDHP was satisfied with the results of the presidential election in the Russian Federation, since Vladimir Vladimirovich was the preferred candidate for the SDHP. Moreover, the SDHP members even called on our compatriots, citizens of the Russian Federation, to vote for Putin. “I think our call on the Armenian community in Russia had certain impact on the election. I hope it is so. Certainly, I am satisfied with the results of the election, but I don’t want to express the final opinion yet. On March 14, when the final results will be summarized, one can speak more factually about the election. However, it is already visible that Putin has won a decisive victory, since the other candidates have congratulated and asserted that regardless of any kind of small violations, those couldn’t have an impact on the final results. And such a victory can certainly be congratulated for,” said Ms. Sargsyan. Let us mention on behalf of Aravot that three candidates have congratulated Putin and Gennady Zyuganov has denied accepting the results of the election.
In response to a question whether she was not afraid of being late, since President Serzh Sargsyan had already congratulated, Ms. Sargsyan said, “Serzh Sargsyan has been too early as usual. Some countries were also early to congratulate him, now he does the same thing. I think that ethics also demands to say that the president in the given country has been elected as a result of a transparent election only after the final results of the election are made public.”
In the case of the election in the Russian Federation, Ms. Sargsyan is particularly interested in the reaction of the European institutions, “Will they employ double standards in this instance too? Or will they accept the election? Europe’s quick assessment of the Armenian presidential election in 2008 affected the results of the election and Serzh Sargsyan was declared the president before time. I hope that in this case they will give a bit more restrained and objective assessment.”
