“As a result of the heated discussions in recent months, 13 out of 18 forces, members of the ANC, had reached an agreement, but were compelled to state that the Pan-Armenian National Movement (PANM) and 2-3 forces supporting it had upset the wish of the overwhelming majority to reach a consensus,” Samvel Harutyunyan, the representative of the Armenian Volunteers’ Union in the political council of the Congress, stated during a press conference that took place in Urbat (Friday) Club today.
Let us remind that 4 parties, members of the ANC – National Renaissance led by Vagharshak Harutyunyan, Motherland and Dignity Party led by Garnik Margaryan, Christian-Democratic Renaissance led by Sos Gimishyan and Armenian Volunteers’ Union led by Zhirayr Sefilyan – have refused being included in the Congress list.
Mr. Harutyunyan explains not being involved in the pre-election alliance of the ANC by having serious dissensions on strategic and tactical issues, as well as on the principle of making the ANC list for the proportional representation. The spokesperson claims that their proposals submitted to the ANC political council were basically neglected. He is convinced that in case of more abrupt and fundamental strategy, the ANC would have already realized five articles, including the change of power, of the ANC declaration adopted in 2008.
