The lawsuit demanding a compensation for defaming honor, dignity and business reputation brought by Vano Yeghiazaryan, the village headman of Lernapat against Gevorg Melkonyan, a resident of Lernapat, was under consideration of Lori region law court Judge Varduhi Hovnanyan. Aravot newspaper was found the defendant.
However, last October 31, the trial was suspended until fulfilling the Marshals Service Act in regard to the search for Gevorg Melkonyan.
On February 24, the petitioner, the village headman, filed a motion in the court, by which he informed that G. Melkonyan had returned from Russia and was in the village.
The court sent the ruling on resuming the trial to Aravot. The preliminary trial resumed at 12 pm, April 10.

Let us remind that the same petitioner’s lawsuit against another resident of Lernapat, Boris Ashrafyan, is under this judge’s consideration and again the defendant is Aravot. Armine Simonyan, a journalist of the newspaper, reported on the protest that took place last August in front of the Government House and that residents of Lernapat participated in, expressing their opinions to the journalist.
Another lawsuit regarding the same article is under the consideration of another judge of the region’s law court, Boris Grigoryan. So, three different judges will deal with three separate lawsuits regarding the same article.
