Ashot Aghababyan, a Republican MP, has decided to start an ostrich business in his electoral district, Amasia and Ashotsk, if he is reelected. The MP said this to journalists at Gyumri Dramatic Theater today after Bulgarian journalist Tsvetana Paskaleva’s movie Wounds of Artsakh was shown. “There are a lot of projects to carry out, if I start to talk about the projects, it will take too long, but we have thought about a project that is connected, you know, mainly with food production and it will not be, you know, only in my electoral district, but throughout the region of Shirak. My voters already know that it will be after the election and not before it. We have a professional who has lived in Africa and has worked with ostriches. We try to understand that if one cow gives birth to one calf, ostrich gives birth to 50 chicks and after roughly two years the weight of meat amounts to that of a cow. Let me put it differently, it is better, ecologically cleaner, why shouldn’t we switch to that project that has been discussed for quite a long time and we also have an investor, we are going to implement the ostrich project at the end of May, at the beginning of June, the meat is ecologically clean and what do they call it, without cholesterol. Why not? The breeding rate is so high that the region of Shirak will export meat within 10 years, firstly it will provide for Armenia and then will be exported.”
Ashot Aghababyan said that he would announce his candidacy in his electoral district, no. 33, and if he hadn’t appeared in the parliament or in his electoral district for a long time, the reason was his sickness. According to him, he has worked in his office, instead.
According to Ashot Aghababyan, becoming an MP is not a wish, it is a necessity. “An MP or a candidate should have the strength to get ready for that job. MP should defend the constitutional rights of his voters in his electoral district,” commented the MP.
Ashot Aghababyan expects a clean and impartial election this time, since, according to him, the whole world watches Armenia and he is not embarrassed in any way to compete with Hovhannes Margaryan, a member of the Rule of Law Party (RLP). In regard to businessmen-MPs’ appearing or not appearing in the parliament, although Ashot Aghababyan deems they are right not allowing businessmen to appear in the parliament, but in his case, it shouldn’t be so. “If I am at issue, I have never done business. I have a son and daughters; Dar 21 TV company is managed by my daughter. I certainly have revenues, but I never sign any papers or interfere in that business,” the businessman-MP assured.
