Today protesters gathered outside the Government House and demanding dismantlement of the booths in Mashtots Park were engaged in a debate with a police officer. The protesters thought the police officers violated the constitutional order, the police officers, on the other hand, thought that the protesters did so.
One of the police officers reminded the people gathered that according to the law on assemblies, it was not allowed to hold a rally accompanied by noise in the vicinity of the Government House and the National Assembly. “Isn’t it enough of violating the law? You are overstepping the law,” a police officer said to the protesters and demanded to cease the rally. The protesters, on the other hand, asked, “Does the law allow you to prevent a peaceful rally?” As a result of a dialogue between the protesters and the police officers, the sides didn’t come to an agreement and the police officers left the protesters alone.
The protest continued till the end of the Cabinet meeting. Neither the mayor, nor else the deputy chief of police present at the meeting met with the protesters outside.
Protester Apres Zohrabyan stated that according to the latest information the mayor had left the Government House through the rear entrance and suggested to continue the rally in Mashtots Park.
