Yesterday two representatives of Armenia TV Company – producer Vahe Ghazaryan and editor Gagik Mkrtchyan – joined the ranks of the RPA at once.
Let us find out from editor of the TV company Gagik Mkrtchyan whether this fact will contribute to politicization of the company in the pre-election period or whether it will cause prejudicial attitude toward reporting on parties or not.
He said during a conversation with www.aravot.am that his being a party member could not have any impact on activities of the TV company, “The editor is also a journalist and a journalist even being a member of a party remains being a journalist, the most important thing is impartiality.” We inquired from Mr. Mkrtchyan whether he was also going to participate in the election. He said in response, “I don’t know, I don’t know anything about such speculations yet. I can neither confirm, nor deny.” He also explained why now and why he had preferred exactly the RPA, “I could have joined five years ago or a year ago. It doesn’t matter at all, if a man is politically active, has adopted a political stance. The ideas and work style of the Republican Party are closer to me.” He has already gotten the party badge and has been wearing it since yesterday.
www.aravot.am also talked with producer of the TV company Vahe Ghazaryan. He assured that he was not going to participate in the parliamentary election and would continue his work at the TV company. “Given the journalistic activities, I have been the author of many TV shows, since issues were raised and solved, nonetheless, I have decided to become a member of the Republican Party to contribute to some extent to the progress of the country,” he explained his decision to join the ranks of the RPA in this manner. In his words, the field of journalism has been reformed and it is in line with the reforms carried out in the country, “They are processes taking place simultaneously, i.e. two in one.”
