According to the majoritarian list made public by the Heritage Party on Sunday, the party will nominate 8 candidates for majoritarian representation in the parliamentary election to be held on May 6. One of those candidates, Zaruhi Postanjyan, will be nominated for no. 4 electoral district. Let us remind that the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) has nominated Artak Sargsyan, the owner of the network of SAS markets, the Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP) will endorse Gurgen Arsenyan, the leader of the United Labor Party (ULP), the Armenian National Congress will endorse Aram Manukyan in this electoral district and former prisoner of conscious Suren Sirunyan and Satik Seyranyan, the editor-in-chief of 168 Zham newspaper, who will most probably be supported by the Free Democrats have conveyed intention to be nominated through civil initiative. In any case, Seyranyan said during a conversation with Radio Freedom at an appropriate time, “I will be nominated as a non-partisan, however in terms of ideology I am more disposed to the Free Democrats. That party will support me.”
www.aravot.am tried to find out from Styopa Safaryan, a member of the Heritage Party executive committee and the leader of the parliamentary faction why the two parties that were going to participate in the upcoming election with a common list would basically compete in no. 4 electoral district and whether it was possible that the parties would reconsider their intentions in regard to this electoral district. “I think that when we coordinated the proportional list, our partners from the Free Democrats were aware also of our majoritarian nominations. I am convinced that it was talked about during negotiations and certainly, they were informed that the Heritage Party would nominate such and such for majoritarian representation. However, I don’t rule out that we will discuss it once again, if there is a necesseity,” said Safaryan.
Is it possible that such competition will take place also in other electoral districts? Is the Heritage Party aware of the intentions of its partner party? “I am convinced that the Free Democrats have no candidate. If they had, it would be also coordinated,” said Stepan Safaryan. In response to our request to clarify whether the Free Democrats would not nominate anyone for majoritarian representation at all, the Heritage Party representative said, “If they had, it would be coordinated. That is how I understand it. It is not that I have information, it is just the way I understand it, because everything was opened by both sides at the beginning who would contribute what resources.”

As for nominating Satik Seyranyan, in particular, who will supposedly be endorsed by the Free Democrats, according to Stepan Safaryan, he is aware of that statement of Seyranyan that she will not be against it, if political forces, in particular, the Free Democrats, endorse her. “I don’t know anything else,” said Stepan Safaryan.
