“Although the electoral campaign hasn’t started yet, that garbage of electoral propaganda has already filled our houses with eyeglass frames, tooth fillings, jams and chocolate. It even came to, as my neighbor in Metsamor told me, that one of the ruling parties handed out boxes of chocolates in a headquarters, another one handed out jam, they take both of them, they say ‘what a nice thing, I will celebrate my kid’s birthday in the kindergarten.’ This is a tragedy, because as a result of it, we degrade the society,” Lilit Galstyan, an Armenian Revolutionary Federation (ARF) MP, warned about this during a discussion organized by the Political and International Research Center and USAID, to which the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA), the Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP) and the Armenian National Congress (ANC) representatives had been invited.
During a conversation with www.aravot.am, in response to a question whether she had any evidence, although everyone talked about it, that they handed out bribe, Lilit Galstyan made her personal example, “I entered a hairdresser’s on Baghramyan St. recently, the hairdresser or the manager told me that Artak Sargsyan would take care of that hairdressing. I haven’t heard about it, I witnessed it. Artak Sargsyan provides those services in all beauty parlors on Baghramyan St. He has suddenly decided that he has to make Armenian women beautiful.”
Let us mention that Artak Sargsyan, the owner of SAS supermarket network, has been nominated in the 4th electoral district of Arabkir for majoritarian representation. The press circulates the news that he has handed out Bulgarian fragrances and Sorini chocolates. We tried to get clarification from RPA member Artak Sargsyan in this regard, but he would hang on the phone all the time without answering.
We inquired from Lilit Galstyan whether law-enforcers were ready to enforce the law against election bribers and bribe takers these days, she responded, “Law-enforcers have been in that administrative resource of the establishment for a long time – it is a resource that contributes to the establishment’s reproduction.”
