“All the absences are based on documents. The person is either sick or on business trip – absences are legally grounded,” Garnik Isagulyan, President Serzh Sargsyan’s permanent representative in the National Assembly, said during a conversation with www.aravot.am, when we inquired from him how the National Assembly had responded to Haykakan Zhamanak newspaper editor-in-chief Nikol Pashinyan’s letter, by which he had demanded the grounds for not depriving the absent MPs of seats. Mr. Isagulyan assured that President Serzh Sargsyan was aware of all absences, “I don’t think that there is any serious problem. It is a different matter, please, let the next parliament amend the National Assembly Rules of Procedure, by which, regardless of reasons, the MP who has been absent from more than a half of meetings gives up the seat.”
