The Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP) Press Secretary Thinks the Armenian National Congress (ANC) Member’s Complaint “Is Ridiculous, to Say the Least”

April 03,2012 15:40

Ruben Torosyan, a member of the ANC and the head of the Parliamentarianism Center in Armenia, has filed a petition in the administrative court to find the PAP registration by the Central Electoral Commission (CEC) void, reasoning that the PAP is not a party, but a charitable organization.

In that regard, Khachik Galstyan, PAP leader Gagik Tsarukyan’s press secretary, said during a conversation with www.aravot.am, “It is ridiculous, to say the least. It is their right to file a petition in the court, let them do that, but I think their opinion on this issue is ridiculous.”

Khachik Sargsyan urged to open their website again and to find out whether there was any word about party activities or not. The articles of association, the party program, motto, congresses, the membership procedure, as well as information about Gagik Tsarukyan’s meetings are uploaded on www.bhk.am.

Ruben Torosyan has filed another petition in the court demanding to find the Heritage Party registration void. During a conversation with us, Mr. Torosyan explained that the Heritage Party activities contradicted Article 5 of the Parties Act, according to which, they had to have at least 100 members in every region of the Republic of Armenia and they had to have district offices in all regions of the Republic of Armenia, including the city of Yerevan, but they didn’t, therefore, the party should have been dissolved long ago.

In this regard, Heritage Party MP Anahit Bakhshyan called on Mr. Torosyan to try to prove and then achieve his goal, “He cannot prove that there has been a violation of that article, we have offices,” assured Ms. Bakhshyan.
