“This is the first time I hear that there are clashes between the ANC and the Heritage Party. I perceive clashes in an absolutely different way. It is political struggle and everyone struggles given his culture,” Khachatur Kokobelyan, the leader of the Free Democrats Party, said, in response to a question of www.aravot.am how he would comment on the clashes between those two political forces, “I am convinced that there haven’t been any particular clashes between the ANC and our joint team. I hope that this rationality will be mutual. General criticism has always been. I think that we must be able to make the right choices and understand that we are not the
targets of each other. Our target is the ruling coalition and we should struggle against the 3 ruling coalition forces.”
Since Ruben Hakobyan, the Heritage Party deputy chairman, said that the ANC plays, so to say, in two courts and negotiates with both the opposition and the establishment, we inquired from Mr. Kokobelyan whether the ANC cooperated with the establishment. He answered that it was a simple situation and he was not the right man to make assessments, “My perception and deepest conviction is that there are failed negotiations between the ANC and the establishment, as a result of which the people lost. It is obvious. The political struggle has just started and we will try to understand at this stage which political force has what position and certainly our assessments will be made accurately and properly.” Kokobelyan hopes that they can still come to terms with the ANC in terms of endorsing common candidates for proportional representation. According to him, the ANC and the whole opposition camp must understand that their resources are very limited and the opposition has no right to struggle against each other and eliminate their common resources, “The politician and the political force that will not be guided by these convictions will prevent the opposition’s victory.”
