The Heritage Party and the Free Democrats Party signaled the start of their election campaign at Tigran Mets Hall of Armenia Marriott Hotel today. In his opening speech Khachatur Kokobelyan, the manager of the Heritage Party pre-election headquarters and the leader of the Free Democrats Party, said that they would start their campaign from Republic Square and would finish it with a big rally in Freedom Square. After live performance of the Armenian anthem, Kokobelyan gave floor to, in his words, “leader of the New Armenia Raffi Hovhannisyan” who was received by the people present at the event with long applause and a chant “Raffi.”
The Heritage Party leader said that his party and the Free Democrats Party team would bring the values that are based on “rights, the Constitution and laws and never on begging, alms and false charity.” Raffi Hovhannisyan also talked about the election list. “Our list has been talked about much. Let me respond to backbiting, undermining people, false patriots and contemptible analyzers once and for all, because we have got work to do and we will do that work together and as opposed to them. I forgive everyone without exceptions. I forgive them for their wrong words and phrases from now on. But let them know that the Heritage Party team is the team of the Armenian people, the citizens of Armenia; it is a team accountable and responsible to them. It is a team consisting of the Heritage Party, the Free Democrats Party, ordinary citizens, intellectuals, youth and it will not only be a majority in the National Assembly tomorrow, but will also participate in forming the executive power – the Cabinet – afterwards also the presidency and the judicial power. Who doesn’t believe in this today will believe in 30 days’ time,” stated the Heritage Party leader assuring that the Heritage Party would be the favorite through both majoritarian and proportional representations.
Hovhannisyan also said that there is no one on the Heritage Party list with whom he hadn’t argued, negotiated or had a problem before as a citizen or a man or a former official, “However, there are people on this list of the Heritage Party, the Free Democrats Party and the citizens of the Republic of Armenia who have the will and the power to forgive and to be forgiven, to realize their mistakes and to understand the national interest and free citizen is the one with whom the Heritage Party goes for a victory.”
