“I am under the impression that the lack of voters during the meetings of different political forces is conditional to some extent on the fact that the society seems to be afraid. And the big number of people during the meetings of the establishment is conditional on the fact that they are just brought. Those parties just have the administrative resource, they can guarantee many people and make an impression,” Vazgen Safaryan who is in the second place on the joint list of the Armenian Communist Party (ACP) for proportional representation made an assessment of the campaign during a conversation with www.aravot.am. He assures that thus unequal conditions have been created for parties, whereas it would be better, if an opportunity was
offered for an interparty dialogue, in order that voters might be able to learn about the programs of parties.
As for instances during the campaign, when violence had been used, he said, “Violence is unacceptable, both sides should create such conditions that no tension may be provoked.” Mr. Safaryan, talking about the actions of the Heritage Party and the Rule of Law Party (RLP), found some similarities, “They are both adherents of liberalism and are basically both in the same field and work on the same electorate.”
Armen Hovsepyan who is in the second place on the list of the Democratic Party for proportional representation said about violence, “Judging from the system, under which we live, taking into account the moral degradation, these are natural things and will be there. The crowds of these parties, unworthy people are the result of these.” Mr. Hovsepyan mentioned that the Democrats wanted to enter the parliament in order to change this very system. www.aravot.am inquired whether the Democratic Party would be allowed. A. Hovsepyan said, “We must struggle to achieve our goal. We have exceeded the limit of making mistakes; we must not make mistakes anymore.”
