27 observers of the Helsinki Citizens’ Assembly Vanadzor Office will follow the election in Vanadzor, Ijevan, Gyumri and the community of Malatia-Sebastia of Yerevan.VOICE013
Artur Sakunts, the coordinator of the office, said during a conversation with us that they hadn’t registered obvious violations in the pre-election period, “We have concerns more about unequal and biased usage of administrative resources and meetings, different parties have different capabilities, it is not only conditional on the party capabilities, but also guaranteeing those. Officials didn’t have the right to participate in the election campaign, whereas they were not on vacation, but participated.”VOICE014
As for the short-term mission of the foreign observers, Mr. Sakunts is convinced that the monitoring cannot be short-term, because, “If one’s monitoring is not carried out the whole day in the polling station, the efficiency will be very low, one should supervise the process, monitoring cannot be short-term.”VOICE015
