www.aravot.am asked Armen Martirosyan, a member of the Heritage Party parliamentary group, to comment on Samvel Nokoyan’s statement that the rumors that the Heritage Party was engaged in some cooperation with the government were a political technology to win votes. Mr. Martirosyan explained, “I don’t know what Mr. Nikoyan said in what context, but the Heritage Party has no task of stealing votes. We expect citizens’ support for the work we have done in the past. Our work for 5 years shows what a political force we are. We just want to get the harvest of our work’s sprouts we have planted in the ground.” We inquired what Mr. Martirosyan would say about another observation of S. Nikoyan that the Heritage Party had annoyed the government. He noted, “Mr. Nikoyan says the right thing, since although the Heritage Party members were few, but it was the straightjacket that was put on the government in some cases and made it hear the people’s voice. Therefore, Mr. Nikoyan’s complaint is grounded.”
The idea that the government will ostensibly change the RLP for the Heritage Party as a result of the election is from the series of political theories that are circulating these days. www.aravot.am got Mr. Martirosyan’s comment, “Theories are very many, but the practice is that the Heritage Party stands by the citizen, it is a political force protecting social interest and it conducts its activities based on that. Our cooperation with anyone is conditional on whether the problem is as urgent for our partner as for us. We have cooperated with the Armenian National Congress (ANC), the Armenian Revolutionary Federation (ARF) and the Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP) on different issues, not to mention other parties. For example, if God forbid, a war breaks out tomorrow, shall we not participate, since the Republican Party is in the coalition, shall we say that they have robbed this country, let them go to war?”
In response to a question whether the Heritage Party had taken offense at being compared with the RLP, Mr. Martirosyan said, “There is no issue of taking offense, it is, again, an issue concerning black technologies, which has been used against us so much during the past years that we take it a bit easier now than before. We have developed immunity. When one is pure from within, one has no problem. The important thing is that a man or a political force can stick to its own principles and doesn’t feel remorse. We don’t have it.”
