“I think that one shouldn’t see it as a serious thing. In such cases, one should immediately call law-enforcement agencies. We ourselves do relevant work,” Davit Harutyunyan, an RPA head of the state and legal issues committee of the National Assembly, said, in response to an observation of www.aravot.am that apparently the “first flowers” had already emerged and the
RPA members from different social classes had already used pressure, there had been incidents with oppositionists in the election processes.
Our interlocutor added, “A few incidents, which, according to presumptions, were done by Republicans, had nothing to do with the party and I think that unfortunately, this is usually just a provocation.” In response to another observation of www.aravot.am that the election campaign had gone smoothly and everyone expected that there would be outbreaks on the election day, whether he shared those concerns, our interlocutor said, “I hope that there will be no outbreaks. Although there might be separate local incidents. Nonetheless, we must do everything it takes to immediately eliminate them. And from this perspective, fast work of the law-enforcement agencies and their response to such incidents are also very important. Generally, I want to express my conviction again that this election will be an election of a whole new level.”

All political forces participating in the election state that if their votes are “stolen,” they will not keep silent and will struggle. We inquired from Mr. Harutyunyan what the RPA would do. “If anyone’s votes are stolen, we will join him,” said Davit Harutyunyan. He assured that the RPA itself as the one responsible for organizing and holding the election would do everything, in order that no one’s votes might be stolen, “Therefore, we are concerned about the proper quality of holding the election in the same way and we are ready to do everything, in order that the election may be a proper one.”
