Today the Armenian Communist Party (ACP) concluded its election campaign in Hoktember cinema hall of Gyumri. Both few Communists and some workers at Gyumri City Hall – certainly making a favor to deputy mayor of Gyumry Gagik Manukyan – came to listen to them. They even brought students from schools in the honor of the Communists, urging them regularly not to be impolite and leave the hall.
Ruben Tovmasyan, the ACP leader, made an endless speech. He talked about different problems, poverty, beggary, emigration, Armenian women’s prostitution and the Karabakh issue.
The ACP leader didn’t avoid also Gorbachev, remembering whom he unwillingly became nervous, saying, “Gorbachev whom we perceive as no. 1 traitor and guilty of the collapse of the USSR, we want to inform you that I made a statement five months ago on suing him. Today highly-qualified lawyers of Russia have united and formed a union to ensure all grounds for suing Gorbachev.” The ACP leader remembered Gorbachev to show that even the traitor wanted that there was no disaster area two years after, however, 22 years have passed and nothing has been done.
The ACP leader then said, “I presented all this to you to say that socialist ideas are eternal, never ever think that socialist ideas may give in. Well, 22 years have passed, the same figures reiterate taken from our programs, make promises at the top of their lungs, if one listens to them, all that has been done in Gyumri has been done by the Republican Party, the rest were some people who wanted to benefit from something.”
