Perhaps the absence of “against everyone” option is the reason for so many spoiled votes.
Yesterday, during the Armenian National Congress (ANC) rally, Aram Manukyan explained so many spoiled votes by the fact that it had probably been a result of the carousel voting of the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) – they had given ballots with the RPA ticked off, people had put a period on the package of ballots to get it off their conscience and all of them had been found spoiled. In response to a question of www.aravot.am in this regard at the Central Election Commission (CEC) today, chairman of the commission Tigran Mukuchyan said, “If the secret ballot is at issue, I am undoubtedly inclined to think that the ANC proxies who were in the precinct took a lawful attitude and they, at least, didn’t violate others’ right to secret ballot. Under such conditions, it is natural that they couldn’t find out who and how made marks to spoil ballots during the voting. If they noticed such things, a report should be made on that, if it wasn’t the case, all that is probably a post-election trick”
