“No Political Force, Even Accounting for the Majority, Must and Can Restrain Us,” a Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP) Member Says

May 09,2012 17:38

Tigran Urikhanyan, a member of the PAP, said during an interview given to a newspaper that Hmayak Hovhannisyan’s and Vartan Oskanian’s opinions on the possible coalition had not been checked with the PAP political council. Taking this into account, www.aravot.am asked Tigran Urikhanyan, “Does this mean that you think differently?” “No,” answered Tigran Urikhanyan. “A journalist asked a question whether, talking on behalf of the joint staff, Hovhannisyan had expressed the party’s opinion. I said that ‘there is the answer in your question, as you have mentioned, Hovhannisyan talked on behalf of the joint staff.‘ As for Oskanian’s personal opinion, I stated that it hadn’t been discussed in the framework of the political council and the above mentioned doesn’t mean that I am for the coalition or the other way around.

Being a member of the PAP political council, I am compelled to wait for the official conclusion of the party. In the meantime, my personal opinion is the following – around half a million citizens trusted us with all the ensuing consequences. Our say will be weighty and our moves will be decisive. We must not disappoint all those, without exceptions, who pinned hopes on us and no other political force, even accounting for the majority, must and can restrain us.”
