“We held discussions before drawing up the lists for proportional representation and such developments were predictable,” Artak Zeynalyan, a member of the political council of the Republic Party, said during a conversation with www.aravot.am, in response to a question whether he agreed with Aram Sargsyan’s decision to reject the seat and what he thought of the prospect of “breaking off relations” with the Armenian National Congress (ANC). Our interlocutor didn’t rule out that the political council of the party would make a decision to leave the ANC.
Artak Zeynalyan didn’t agree with an observation that the relations between the Republic Party and the ANC had become tense at the stage of drawing up the lists, in particular, when many representatives of the party had been either completely neglected or hadn’t taken their appropriate places on the ANC lists for proportional and majoritarian representation. In response to a question with which forces, in
particular, the Republic Party would cooperate in the future, Artak Zeynalyan didn’t mention any names either. He just clarified, in response to our question, that they were not engaged in talks with any political force at that moment and this move of the Republic Party was not checked with any political force.
