The Election and a School Bathroom

May 11,2012 19:09

No bathroom has worked in the secondary school of Ayrum for 7-8 years. The reasons for that are – they stopped providing permanent supplies of drinking water to the town of Ayrum and its school, the oldpipes of the bathroom have worn away and have become useless. 350 students of the school use the bathroom, which doesn’t correspond to sanitary regulations, outside the school. During the election campaign, the residents of Ayrum were promised that if they voted for the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA), a bathroom would start to work inside the school. On May 6, the Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP) won more votes than the RPA in Ayrum, after which, the RPA activists in the town stated that the bathroom would not be built for that reason. Ararat Baghinyan, the principal of the secondary school in Ayrum said that building the bathroom had nothing to do with not voting for the RPA. In his words, Armen Ghularyan, the governor of Tavush, promised that the school bathroom would have been ready by September. Let us mention that governor Ghularyan is the chairman of the regional council of Tavush. Hopefully, a bathroom will be there in the school in September.
