www.aravot.com asked Aram Karapetyan, the New Times Party (NTP) leader, to talk about the silence on the political stage after the election, the attitude of the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) and the Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP), in particular. Mr. Karapetyan noted, “People keep silent in two cases – when they have nothing to say or when there is nothing to say yet. Everyone will start speaking from today. However, they will say nothing new, the terms will change – for example, there will not be a coalition, there will be an agreement. Actually they will make the situation worse by that, since the de facto coalition government will be represented by separate branches, if I have understood correctly and if the news of arguments at the Presidential Palace is accurate. There was at least a coalition program at the time, now it is not there either.”
We asked to comment also on the phrase “a few ministers more or less” in the speech of the coordinator of the Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP) propaganda.
A. Karapetyan noted, “I am under the impression that they try to solve the issue of proportions representing their own opinion in the solution as if they don’t need anything. Therefore, if nothing changes, don’t be too upset. Those are political intrigues that don’t lead to any progress.”
It was hard for the NTP leader to say what position the Heritage Party would take and he added, “Raffi is my dearest friend, but I agree with Levon Ter-Petrossian in this case – the level of my training is not sufficient for me to know the next move of the Heritage Party.”
