For Larisa Alaverdyan, the secretary of the Heritage Party parliamentary group, the National Assembly election was an occasion for the opposition to reveal itself. “The forces that have appeared as opposition since 1990 have revealed themselves. We have seen where the forces that raised a powerful wave in 2004 have ended up. One, having a certain political position, cannot go to another camp to solve his problems,” said Ms. Alaverdyan during a press conference today, refusing to mention those parties. Shortly afterwards, www.aravot.am inquired from Ms. Alaverdyan whether it was only about the Armenian National Congress (ANC), “I don’t mention the ANC, in particular. However, yes, it is also about the ANC, because it showed that it had maintained the people’s wave of protest at one level, but there were revelations afterwards.”
Talking about the criticism of parties, which had been members of the ANC before yesterday, that the ANC should have rejected the offices, Ms. Alaverdyan said, “I put myself in the place of the ANC and I don’t understand why they rejected the offices in Yerevan City Council and in this case they are going to assume the offices. I am not for rejecting offices myself. However, political forces, members of the ANC, which demanded from the Heritage Party with unconcealed malice to resign the offices, now one should demand from them.”
Let us remind that the Democratic Motherland and the Conservative parties, members of the Impeachment Alliance, which is now a member of the ANC, made such a demand in 2007.
