“So, what should we have done? Should we have organized a protest outside the Constitutional Court?” Lyudmila Sargsyan, the leader of the Social Democrat Hunchakian Party (SDHP) and a member of the ANC, asked these questions in response to a question of www.aravot.am why the ANC members didn’t actively participate in the examination of the lawsuit of the ANC filed in the Constitutional Court. Let us remind that RPA member Heghine Naghdalyan who participates in the examination of the lawsuit filed in the Constitutional Court by the ANC on the parliamentary election, said to journalists, “The Armenian National Congress knows the value of its lawsuit quite well, therefore, they don’t actively participate in the session of the Constitutional Court.” In response to our observation that at least the leaders of the ANC member-parties should have attended the Constitutional Court session, Lyudmila Sargsyan said, “One thing is clear for us – whether we organize a picket outside the Constitutional Court or not, if there is a decision of this administration, nothing will change. And the administration will do anything to justify itself. The issue is in the legal field, but that field is so weak in our country that our presence in the Constitutional Court would have really changed nothing.” Ms. Sargsyan asserts that regardless of everything, the ANC couldn’t keep silent and reconcile with the results of that election, therefore, it referred to the Constitutional Court, but it realized at the same time that it dealt with a government that would do everything to conceal the crimes committed during the election.
Lyudmila Sargsyan doesn’t agree with Hermine Naghdalyan’s mockery that the ANC knows the value of its lawsuit quite well, “Yes, we know the value of our lawsuit and it is very high, because we struggle for legality. We will continue our struggle and one day we will achieve our goal. It is a consistent struggle that we will wage always. And I think the RPA and the Constitutional Court, on the decision of which the faith in the court system greatly depends, should know the value of the ANC’s lawsuit quite well. Ms. Naghdalyan can make such assessments, since she knows quite well that the RPA doesn’t attach importance to genuine facts.”
We will find out the decision of the Constitutional Court in a few hours. www.aravot.am inquired what our interlocutor expected. “The ANC will never cease struggling for the court system, moreover, the Constitutional Court to really become independent, but we have many facts today that the Constitutional Court doesn’t differ from ordinary courts in any way,” said Ms. Sargsyan.
Our interlocutor doesn’t expect much from the Constitutional Court. She asserts at the same time that the definition of the PACE that the election in Armenia was rigged is more important, “Europe starts to realize that elections don’t change many things in Armenia. It is the essential thing.”
