“If We Had Paid Attention to Disappointments, We Would Have Left the Heritage Party Already,” Armen Martirosyan Says

June 02,2012 19:32

“Certainly, an office of MP offers a little more opportunities to struggle, but in any case, we earned our place, we earned our right to speak. We have gained the right to be the messenger of the people by our work, therefore, we will continue our activities in the same manner,” Armen Martirosyan, a former Heritage Party MP said during a conversation with www.aravot.am. In response to our question whether it was possible that as the time went by, these disappointments might deepen and cause them to leave the Heritage Party, “I don’t think so. If we had paid attention to those disappointments, we would have left already. However, no one has left. Despite what opinions members of our party have about the election, all of us have struggled together for quite a long time and I don’t think that this joint struggle has stopped at this stage. On the contrary, I think that we will continue struggling.”

It was hard for Mr. Martirosyan to say whether he shared Larisa Alaverdyan’s opinion about the Free Democrats Party or not, “Everyone has his own opinion, the near future will show whose opinion is the right one.”

Mr. Martirosyan watched the first meeting of the National Assembly and didn’t notice anything strange. As for the open vote, according to him “wrong elections and election fraud are not a novelty in our country.” Armen Martirosyan hopes that the representatives of the Free Democrats Party will maintain the high level of the Heritage Party in the 5th convocation of the National Assembly.

As for the presidential election, Mr. Martirosyan sees party leader Raffi Hovhannisyan as an aspirant, “In any case, the decision he will make will be a personal one and we will respect any decision Mr. Hovhannisyan will make. I myself see him as a probable candidate for president.”
