Sharmazanov Refreshes Davutoğlu’s Memory

June 07,2012 15:54

Yesterday Ahmet Davutoğlu, the Turkish Foreign Minister, made another “milestone” statement, saying, “When Armenia withdraws from the occupied territories, one can establish relations with it too.” Responding to A. Davutoğlu’s statement, Eduard Sharmazanov, the Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia, said to www.aravot.am, “Turkey stubbornly continues to ignore the international obligations undertaken by itself and distorts the reality. This proves once again that Turkey and European integration cannot be synonyms today. For the information of the governments to the west from Armenia and to the east from Artsakh, let me reassert once again that yes, there are occupied territories and the very Turks and Azerbaijanis should leave those occupied territories. Refreshing the Turkish Foreign Minister’s memory, let me inform that his country occupied the southern part of the Republic of Cyprus, which is going to assume the presidency of the European Union, and Azerbaijan occupied Shahumyan, Getashen, Martunashen, which are territories of the Republic of Artsakh… I think Turkey’s work style of speaking the language of ultimatums is unacceptable and I reaffirm once again that we are decisive in reaching our national goals.”
