Today, during a conversation with www.aravot.am, Armen Rustamyan, a representative of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation (ARF) Supreme Body of Armenia, said in response to our question whether the ARF was not going to make a statement in regard to Azerbaijani acts of sabotage on the borders of the villages of Chinar and Berdavan, region of Tavush, as the Free Democrats Party had done, “We are not guided by others’ statements, are we? What a statement is it that we should make it? Our position has always been clear, a statement is not what we should do. One should rebuff all those actions very severely.”
In response to a demand that one should review the standards of the Armenian side’s counterstrokes and establish a ratio of 1 to 10, i.e. to kill 10 enemy soldiers in return for one soldier, Armen Rustamyan said, “We are not against that ratio, shall we be against such a thing?”
When we communicated to him that Artak Zakaryan, a Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) MP, had said that he was against such a ratio, Mr. Rustamyan responded the following, “What ratio is he for? It is a severe counterstroke that they should know that they will suffer losses every time. Now, it is not the issue of ten there, should there be any particular number? Should one necessarily count what ratio there is in case of a counterstroke? The attacker generally loses one to 5, one to 5, it is always so, it is the military science, is that number so important, anyway?”
Talking about Hillary Clinton’s visit and generally about such incidents and losses during the visits of high-ranking officials of the international community, Armen Rustamyan stated, “It is Azerbaijan’s blackmail, nothing has changed there. They threaten everyone, including also the international community, with a new war, in order that everyone comes and asks Azerbaijan not to start a war, no matter what.” In Mr. Rustamyan’s assessment, there is always a possibility of war, because the war hasn’t finished.
