As opposed to the State Committee for Water Economy, Ecolur NGO hasn’t revealed high level of water scarcity in Armenia. Ecolur boycotted today’s
decision of the Cabinet to make amendments to the laws approving comprehensive yearly projects for Lake Sevan and the ecosystem of the lake as early as yesterday. Inga Zarafyan, the head of the NGO, told www.aravot.am that there was no need for increasing the size of outflows from Lake Sevan from 170 000 000m³ to 320 000 000m³, “In 2008, when they allowed to exceed 170 000 000m³ and they produced 303 000 000m³, we calculated and the overall fullness of the Azat and Aparan dams equaled 73 660 000m³ and according to the data for June, it was more by 23 970 000m³, so, the fullness has increased by 33% already.”
Let us remind that Andranik Andreasyan, the chairman of the State Committee for Water Economy, assured the Prime Minister today that fullness of the Aparan dam is 31 000 000m³, instead of last year’s 91 000 000m³ and there was 10 000 000m³ deficit in the Azat dam.

In Ms. Zarafyan’s words, they have already appealed to Vladimir Movsisyan, the chairman of the Committee on Lake Sevan Issues, in order that he may respond and express his opinion, but they haven’t gotten an answer yet.
