Architect Sarhat Petrosyan assesses the almost-one-year activities of Narek Sargsyan, the chief architect of Yerevan, as extremely dangerous. During a conversation with www.aravot.am, S. Petrosyan expressed an opinion that not only should the chief architect have resigned the office, but he also shouldn’t have had the right to project in terms of maintaining historical and cultural monuments in the city.
To S. Petrosyan, the only positive decision made by the chief architect in his whole career was to resign the office of a dean, “When he became the chief architect, he rejected the office of a dean and the faculty has been partially rescued, but I am sorry, I cannot say anything positive.”
If Mr. Sargsyan continues being the chief architect of Yerevan in coming years, S. Petrosyan sees many threats, “This wretchedness will continue in the same manner and it will lead to Yerevan’s destruction or it will take the path of becoming a provincial town.”
