Today www.aravot.am asked sociologist Aharon Adibekyan, to assess Vartan Oskanian’s rating in the presidential election. In Adibekyan’s words, “It is not clear what will happen after Civilitas. Let us wait and see whether his rating will improve. If he relies on the opposition, he will not pass, the extreme opposition accounts for 10% of the electorate and one cannot come to power relying on 10%.”
In response to our question how come the PAP had relied on the opposition and its votes had increased, he said, “It relied partially, only 1/3 of its votes are from the opposition. Now, not being in the coalition during the next election, it will lose a part of those votes.”
Mr. Adibekyan assured that the PAP had serious problems now, “Thousands of people curse Tsarukyan, because they will lose their offices, jobs, since ministers will change, those people

will bring their own teams. People worked, earned their living, now they will lose their jobs, what will they do?”
We asked to clarify whether it meant that Vardan Vardanyan and Harutyun Kushkyan had problems with Mr. Tsarukyan, he replied, “They may not have problems, they are on firm ground, I am talking about the rest – deputies, heads of departments, heads of organizations. Therefore, when business and politics are combined, every step should be seriously considered, every step. Economic pain is the biggest pain. A 25-year-old boy jumped off the Kiev Bridge the other day. He has lost his office and he doesn’t know, he cannot get another office, because he is labeled by a certain party. The life becomes meaningless and it is on their conscience.”
