Levon Ter-Petrossian, the ANC leader, stated at the latest rally that everyone should ask himself just one question “the refusal of the Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP) to form a coalition government has strengthened or weakened Serzh Sargsyan or, which is the same, the gang rule. I am sure that every unprejudiced man will answer ‘of course, it has. That was what we wanted, wasn’t it, and what do troublemakers do?’” In regard to this, www.aravot.am inquired of ANC MP Lyudmila Sargsyan whether the ANC hadn’t weakened during the past few years, to which she responded, “In any case, if you
think that the ANC has weakened, then not because of that, naturally, the opposition doesn’t have that many resources, it doesn’t have the capabilities to keep a large number of people active. It is natural, but I don’t think that we have weakened. It is very probable that the situation will change in the country and as a result of that we will have the activity of the period before the 2007 presidential election. And you will see that the opposition continues to be strong and the people cannot turn away from the opposition, since the dissatisfaction with the government is very big.”
In response to an observation that it was not about ordinary citizens, it was about leading, active figures supporting the ANC, which had either left the ANC or were in a passive condition, Lyudmila Sargsyan said, “Persons representing political forces are also humans and their moods change, they become tired to some extent over time. I participate in the meetings of the political council and I see that all those people who have been struggling with us for around 5 years continue struggling in the same mood. We are a democratic institution and naturally, sometimes there are differences in ideas, which are absolutely good.”
