Responding to a question of www.aravot.am whether he shared the opinion of the French Ambassador who had stated the other day that the Minsk Group co-chairs were particularly active in seeking for ways to settle the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, political scientist Sergey Minasyan, the deputy director of the Caucasus Institute, said, “Yes, in the same context, it is talked about reducing incidents in the contact area. It is not about making the negotiating process itself more active, because it is unrealistic to make the negotiating process more active. The Madrid Principles are almost unacceptable for the Armenian side and for Azerbaijan, they are completely unacceptable. And they will not sign that document voluntarily. However, it is necessary to mention that the mission of the Minsk Group is to preserve the ceasefire and to reduce incidents and they are working on that at the moment.”
