“Every election is similar to an election held in another country and at the same time, it is not like an election held in another country,” analyst Alexander Margarov said, in response to a question of www.aravot.am whether the election to be held in Artsakh on July 19 would be a model for the election in Armenia or not.
Commenting on the statement of the French Ambassador on the visit of the Minsk Group co-chairs during a conversation with us, Margarov said, “Those people are paid for that, it is basically mentioned in their employment contract that their main occupation should be to find means, methods for establishing long-lasting peace that will be acceptable for both sides.
In this case, not only can the ambassador state that the Minsk Group co-chairs seek for ways of settling the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, but also anyone we ask in the street will say that it is the very job of those people.”
According to Margarov, it is a different matter whether the co-chairs will find those ways or not and one can decide how well or badly they do their job only by that, “They have been working well so far in the sense that the sides have not reached the point, when they would say ‘dear folks, thank you, good bye, we will solve this problem by ourselves, i.e. militarily.’ And in the sense that they cannot offer a concrete solution that will be acceptable for the sides yet, they still have space for growth,” Margarov said, adding that the co-chairs did what they were supposed to do.
