As we have informed, on Saturday, during the trial of the ANC activists, prosecutor Hakob Martirosyan considered the charges brought against activists Sargis Gevorgyan, Tigran Arakelyan, Artak Karapetyan and Davit Kiramijyan grounded and filed a motion to condemn Tigran Arakelyan to 6 years in prison, Artak Karapetyan to 3 years, 5 months and 15 days, Sargis Gevorgyan to 1 year, 10 months and 20 days, and Davit Kiramijyan to 2 years. www.aravot.am inquired of Galust Sahakyan, the deputy chairman of the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA), whether the punishment was adequate and whether there were political overtones, as Stepan Voskanyan, the counselor of the activists, thought. Mr. Sahakyan said that he was not acquainted with the case, as for political overtones, “It is common in our reality – whoever is convicted, they say there is a political instruction. I don’t think that there were some illegal things and I don’t think that the verdict will not be adequate to their actions.”

We also inquired of Mr. Sahakyan what response the punishments expected for the activists would receive in the international reports regardingArmenia, in his opinion, “As if the international circles are the bearers of the absolute truth, I don’t know what scenarios will be devised in the international international community or any other place. All the same, those are legal issues, you should address the question to the respective competent body… They are young people and we should treat them as mildly as possible.”

Mr. Sahakyan also said that if the aggrieved party had problems, it could apply to him.
