The four parliamentary groups – the Armenian National Congress (ANC), the Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP), the Armenian Revolutionary Federation (ARF) and the Heritage Party – have made a proposal to convene an extraordinary session of the National Assembly, which, as we have informed, has failed. The necessary 44 signatures have not been collected. In regard to this, www.aravot.am inquired of Heghine Bisharyan, the leader of the Rule of Law Party (RLP) parliamentary group, why the Rule of Party had not joined that initiative, had not signed and in her opinion, what was the reason that it had failed. Bisharyan’s words, “Frankly speaking, I should say that the opposition – the four political forces – have a problem of uniting, to begin with. They should be able to carry through the tasks that are put forward. They, the four political forces, were not able to carry out their decision to collect signatures and to convene an extraordinary session. This, in my opinion, is the one of the most important problems that they showed by that process of collecting signatures that they were not united and the existing united political forces whose votes are rather many and which can easily collect 44 votes were not able to collect 44 signatures. The opposition has a problem here. They have a problem of both clarifying and acting jointly.”
As for why the RLP hadn’t joined that initiative, Ms. Bisharyan explained in the following manner, “We don’t think that we should convene an extraordinary session, because there were no problems with any incident here that have not been revealed and there was nothing that needed examination. On the very next day, people who participated in that fight, as a result of which Vahe died, were arrested. In this regard, I think that the National Assembly has nothing to do here. The main thing should be done by the law-enforcement bodies, which have already made the arrests and I am convinced that as a result of an impartial examination, they will get the punishment they deserve.”
