“They won 37 seats thanks to us, others won 7 seats, others 5 and everyone vanished. And I am brought charges against in regard to their visits. Let them admit that they participate in this revenge on the Union of Political Scientists,” Hmayak Hovhannisyan, the president of the Union of Political Scientists, communicated to www.aravot.am from the investigation department, where he is in the framework of the case on taking away the premises occupied by the union from it.
Let us remind that during the parliamentary election, when the joint staff for supervising the election was established, the Union of Political Scientists, represented by Hmayak Hovhannisyan, stated that Senik Julhakyan, a relative of the governor of Syunik, wanted to take away the premises of the union.
We called Mr. Hovhannisyan to inquire what he thought about revelations that had been made by Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP) parliamentary group members after his press conference and statements made at it today. In particular, during a conversation with www.yerkir.am, PAP MP Meruzhan Simonyan said, “The continuous statements of Hmayak Hovhannisyan make me remove certain parentheses. Since the first day of making public the list for proportional representation, there have been backstage discussions in the PAP, which continued also after the election. There was a lot of discontent in the party ranks regarding certain candidates, Hmayak Hovhannisyan to begin with. A man who had permanently leapt from one party into another, a man who had not had any principle couldn’t be by our side in this rather hard period in time. He left the PAP list because of common displeasure and the respective atmosphere. We had always considered him as a potential explosive and we thought the sooner we got rid of them, the better. The time showed that we were right.”

In regard to the revelations themselves, Hovhannisyan said, “I don’t know who that person is, how he has appeared in the National Assembly. I don’t know him, perhaps, nobody knows. Nonetheless, he says some crazy things. I don’t comment what certain people who have appeared in politics by accident, but obviously haven’t contributed anything to the wellbeing of the country say.”
