The Election in the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic Was as Emulative as the One in Armenia

July 20,2012 15:27

“You will see, examining any convention, that it reads that all the peoples have the right to form their government,” political scientist Stepan Grigoryan said, while talking about the presidential election held in Karabakh, and stressed that the Karabakh election had been legitimate from that perspective.

Grigoryan underlined the fact that the Karabakh election had been held in an atmosphere of emulative and heated struggle and said that the world had to take that fact into account whether it liked it or not.

As for what similarities there were between the Karabakh and the Armenian elections, Grigoryan remarked, “There was only one very important similarity – there was competition in both Armenia and Karabakh. In any case, we must not be like Azerbaijan, where they vote for only one person and there is no alternative. There must be an alternative and we need it in order to ensure the security of Karabakh.”
