Lately the world of sport has been mostly interested in what bonuses Gagik Tsarukyan, the president of the National Olympic Committee of Armenia (NOCA), has promised the Armenian Olympians for successful performance in London. Different information is published in the mass media, which distorts the facts to some extent and only partially corresponds to the reality. For example, it is said that those of our sportsmen who will become Olympic champions in London will get a $1 million bonus each from the president of the NOCA personally. However, Iveta Tonoyan, Gagik Tsarukyan’s press secretary clarified during a conversation with www.aravot.am, “Gagik Tsarukyan has promised to give a $1 million bonus to the sportsman who will win the first gold medal for the Republic of Armenia. And Mr. Tsarukyan always matches his words with deeds.” As for the other Olympic champions – God grant, they are many – they will also get serious financial encouragement – 20 million AMD from the state, plus, 40 million AMD from the Olympic committee.
