When the Free Democrats separated from the Congress, Levon Zurabyan, the coordinator of the ANC, explained during a press conference that tired, disappointed people had left. In regard to Davit Shahnazaryan’s, Aram Zaven Sargsyan’s and Hovhannes Hovhannisyan’s withdrawal, they said that the Congress was purging itself. In regard to this, www.aravot.am inquired of Alexander Arzumanyan, a member of the Free Democrats Party, during Radio Liberty’s press conference on Facebook at what level the cleanness and purity of the Congress was, in his opinion and whether he had been also offended, when he had heard such assessments after he had left – Davit Shahnazaryan had taken offense at Hrant Bagratyan – whether there was someone he had taken offense at. A. Arzumanyan replied, “As for offenses, that’s life, that’s politics – taking offense is not a political category. I don’t take offense at or am offended by anyone. As for those statements, articles etc., you know, when the government submitted its program recently, there was a sentence, which they removed afterwards, they were smart enough. It read that Armenia had become stronger after the global financial crisis. This is the same thing. After another party leaves, the ANC becomes stronger, purges itself, purifies, perhaps, it is a process of purging. About level of purity, you know, when you wash a patch too much, it starts to wear out, right, perhaps, it will become so pure that there will be nothing in it.”
We asked him to comment on Davit Shahnazaryan’s accusations against the Congress too. In particular, that the Congress gives the green light to Kocharyanism, Kocharyanism is revived thanks to the efforts of the ANC etc. In Mr. Arzumanyan’s words, “Davit Shahnazaryan is a very experienced politician who can always clearly define his thoughts, express his opinions. He has clearly expressed his approach.”
