“It Is Easy to Brag While Being Away From Armenia,” the Head of PINK Armenia Says About Tsomak

July 31,2012 14:42

Tsomak Oganezova left Armenia the other day because of humiliation, violated rights and intolerance – this conclusion can be drawn from her Facebook statuses and statements made many times. As soon as Tsomak settled abroad, she wrote on her Facebook wall, “Thank God, I have left that damned country at last. Hurrah! I wish the same to all smart people who don’t stand slaps on their faces. ”

In response to a question in what country she had settled, Oganezova said, “In a country where you can see gay couples in the street with their children, in a country where you have no right to shout at and beat up someone in the street, in a country where human rights are above everything else, in a country where one is really free and one’s freedom doesn’t impede anyone and eventually, in a country where there are no Armenians. I like it….”

Oganezova’s status was approved of by some people, was commented on in different ways and a part of famous people supporting her have gotten disappointed. www.aravot.am had a conversation with Mamikon Hovsepyan, the head of the Public Information and Need for Knowledge (PINK Armenia) NGO, who stood by Oganezova and supported her in regard to the DIY Pub case. Commenting on what Oganezova had written, Hovsepyan said that he had not really stood by Tsomak that much, “When those events took place, we tried to show legal support. As for the status, let me say that when I saw it, I went ballistic. Her presenting the nation as damned and sick, likening everyone is not right, to put it mildly. I am angry, there is no doubt, and so much that I didn’t even write to her about all that, I told it to her friends. Regardless of whether a person is close to me or not, when s/he speaks like this, I don’t accept it. It is wrong. I am enraged.

“When a person doesn’t realize what s/he is doing, it is not good. Besides, it is easy to brag while being away from Armenia. Although even being there, one has no right to equate everyone. For me personally the Armenian is integral and no one has the right to say something like that.”
