“I think that the RLP support for Vardan Ghukasyan is ridiculous,” Levon Barseghyan, the chairman of Asparez Club in Gyumri, said to www.aravot.am. He explained, “Not that he doesn’t deserve support, I don’t mean that, I mean that the possible group of candidates is unknown, they are not announced yet, the RLP has already made a statement about supporting someone specific. It doesn’t matter whether he is Vardan Ghukasyan or any other man. This means that it makes a false start. And that means that it was instigated to support him. Any other party would have waited and checked out the whole spectrum of candidates and would have said ‘man, admittedly, we liked the other guy very much, but unexpectedly there is this candidate too.’ At the end of the day, one can understand them – the other
possible candidate, Samvel Balasanyan, left their party at the time, changed his fate and so they take revenge on him.”
Levon Barseghyan made a prediction that Vardan Ghukasyan was so sad, was in such a bad mood that he would not be announced. We inquired of him where he had gotten that information that he was not going to be announced from. Levon Barseghyan explained, “There is no news that he will be announced and there is no news that he will not be announced. However, considering his behavior at the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) regional council meeting, his appearance at the moment he handed in his resignation, his words, talking about the church again… I noticed elements of disappointment. However, it is my personal opinion.”
