“We May Sometimes Have Different Approaches”

August 03,2012 13:36

The leader of the Heritage Party parliamentary group says about the inner-party approaches

“The Motherland of all Armenians is Armenia, Vano Siradeghyan’s one, in particular, since he was not a secondary person for our state. Certainly, I wish that everyone comes back to Armenia, including Vano Siradeghyan, a writer and a figure who has a serious literary signature, and if there is a legal problem, it should be resolved in the legal field, but it would be desirable, if it was in our state,” Ruben Hakobyan, the leader of the Heritage Party parliamentary group, said during a conversation with www.aravot.am about Vano Siradeghyan’s possible return.

We inquired whether there were discrepancies with the Free Democrats Party on that issue, because discontent had been expressed in an interview that the Free Democrats Party had already expressed its position on Vano Siradeghyan’s return to Armenia, whereas the issue had not been discussed with the Heritage Party, Mr. Hakobyan said, “There is no discontent, there is no discrepancy, but I think that it is not a party issue and it should not be about party approaches. We deal with an individual here and it doesn’t matter whether they are party members or leaders, in my opinion, it would be better, if there was a personal approach. I don’t see any necessity to make the issue a party one. On the contrary, I think that it may impede in a sense. When the issue is politicized, made a party one, it causes contradictions, discrepancies, which I think is not an objective area. Certainly, it is theirs to decide, if they have that approach, let it be so.”

In response to our question, “One is under an impression of the political stage that the Free Democrats Party doesn’t always support the Heritage Party decisions, you are one team, don’t these different approaches cause problems inside the party?” Mr. Hakobyan said, “No, only those notice the difference who don’t want to see that there are two different parties, which participated in an election together, but are separate parties and it is natural that they may have different approaches. I don’t see anything here, it doesn’t cause any problem. It is natural that we may sometimes have different approaches toward certain issues.”

Alexander Arzumanyan, a member of the Free Democrats Party and a Heritage Party MP, said that they didn’t know yet whether they would endorse the Heritage Party candidate for the Gyumri mayoral election or not. In response to our question, “When you are in a united team, isn’t it strange that they may not endorse your candidate?” he said that until announcements started, it was very natural that he said such things, “It is very natural that we may announce such a person that someone will not endorse. I think it is normal, unless anyone is announced, a decision is made, I even think it is strange that this issue can be discussed.” He stated that on August 5, when announcements start, it will be clear and they will be able to express their clear position.
