Armenian Tourists Left for Egypt on a Honeymoon, but They Can Appear in Prison

August 22,2012 14:46

Happy Voyage, a travel agency, really organized an unforgettable holiday for tourists who left for Egypt

A group of Armenian tourists informed Aravot from Sharm el-Sheikh that they had become homeless instead of an unforgettable and marvelous holiday in a 5-star hotel inEgypt, they might even be imprisoned.

Tourists, making all payments inArmeniain advance, left forEgyptthrough Happy Voyage and went through real adventures in Sharm el-Sheikh. Armenian tourists were warmly received in the Sunrise Grand Select Arabian Beach Resort on the first day, they were lodged, but then, finding out that the travel agency had not given them any money, the tourists were warned that they had to pay. The tourists are in panic, they have tried to talk to the travel agency, but they, according to the tourists, haven’t done anything besides making promises, “At first, they promised that they would have made all transfers by Saturday, but they haven’t transferred a penny to the hotel so far.” Hotel workers have kept an eye on the Armenians, not allowing them to go aboard a ship, to leave the vicinity, fearing that they will flee and will not pay for the hotel expenses.

By the way, some of the tourists left forEgypton a honeymoon, many of them with their families, small children and have become homeless. After a few sharp warnings, the hotel staff stopped providing services to the Armenians and last morning the manager urged to apply to the embassy, said that they would call the police, the tourists would not leave, unless they paid the money. And the hotel expenses are a rather large sum of money. They demand from every tourist $2600 only for staying for 4 nights without a package.

Since they paid the travel agency the whole sum of money for the holiday in advance, the Armenian tourists have taken little money with them. They tried to collect money from everyone and make the payments, but they haven’t managed.

According to one of the tourists who have called us, “We have paid $2010 for some services for 2 persons in a 5-star hotel. There are people who have paid more than $3500, which includes even having the drinks that are in the fridge of a hotel room. There are people who have paid less, but since there is a mess here, everyone has been lodged in the same hotel, it doesn’t matter who have paid how much anymore.”

Aravot applied to Happy Voyage to get explanation. The worker, hearing that the tourists had managed to inform mass media, promised to tell the director about the complaint and to answer our questions later on. However, yesterday the travel agency didn’t answer its phones anymore.

The tourists inEgypthave applied to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to interfere and to solve the issue somehow. The terrified and depressed tourists are waiting for an answer.
