“If Hmayak Hovhannisyan Continues to Behave Indecently, We Will Make Concrete Facts Public,” Naira Zohrabyan Says

August 23,2012 15:57

“If Hmayak Hovhannisyan continues to behave inadequately, certainly, we will make all those facts public,” Naira Zohrabyan, the press secretary of the Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP) parliamentary group, said during a conversation with www.aravot.am today, in response to our question what factual proofs they had that, as the statement made by the PAP leader’s secretary read, Hmayak Hovhannisyan had shown political indecency and had tried to maneuver on the political stage.

Let us remind that yesterday Hmayak Hovhannisyan, the president of the Union of Political Scientists, revealed the “truth” to www.aravot.am that Gagik Tsarukyan himself had asked and begged him for 5 years to be in the 5th place on the PAP list for proportional representation. In response to that, Gagik Tsarukyan’s press secretary Iveta Tonoyan gave an explanation that they had serious facts that would prove Hmayak Hovhannisyan’s political indecency at hand and that Hmayak Hovhannisyan had voluntarily withdrawn his candidacy, given those facts.

When we asked Naira Zohrabyan to make those facts public, she said, “I don’t think that it will be a surprise for anyone, because I think all political old-timers are very well familiar with and aware of Hmayak Hovhannisyan’s political biography and his special talent for maneuvering in different camps. Perhaps, this is enough for the moment, but if Hmayak Hovhannisyan continues to behave indecently, one will talk about those concrete facts, which he knows quite well, more openly and more publicly.”

We inquired whether those facts that showed that Hmayak Hovhannisyan had tried to maneuver in different political forces were documents or witnesses, Ms. Zohrabyan said that they didn’t want to explain explicitly and factually at the moment what they meant, but they would willingly do that, if Hovhannisyan continued to behave inappropriately, “I don’t think that the facts that we will make public will be a surprise to anyone, I repeat, everyone on the political stage is familiar with Hmayak Hovhannisyan’s background.”

After our conversation, it turned out that Hmayak Hovhannisyan continued his “revelations” in this regard. In particular, he said to Yerkir, “They gave my commission to the Sherriff (Grigor Grigoryan). Yes, I state that my commission was given to the Sherriff, now they try to justify themselves. He became an MP thanks to my withdrawal. But I am happy that I haven’t found myself in such an unhygienic position – I have no questions to discuss with the Sherriff.”

He also said to Hayeli, “Their goal was to make the Sherriff, one of the organizers of the events of March 1, an MP and for that, they needed some people to withdraw their candidacies from the list. In the end, how could the Sherriff, a criminal guilty of the events of March 1, and Hmayak Hovhannisyan, a man who was the first to raise the issue of making the events of March 1 a subject of public debate, be in the same parliamentary group?” Hmayak Hovhannisyan claims that he lost the commission that the people had trusted him with only for the sake of the Sherriff’s commission. “I was forced, but they didn’t use violence against me. I just thought it was right to reject, realizing that I would be discredited, if I was in the same parliamentary group as a person guilty of the events of March 1.”
