“The Opposition Must Not, but It Would Be Good, if It Endorsed Raffi Hovhannisyan,” Armen Martirosyan Says

August 31,2012 16:29

Armen Martirosyan, a member of the Heritage Party and a former MP, explains his opinion spread by some mass media yesterday that “Raffi Hovhannisyan, the leader of the Heritage party, must be the joint candidate of the opposition.” According to Mr. Martirosyan, “No one can express his support to anyone on the political stage at the moment; I said that it would be very good, if, as the Heritage Party had always supported the opposition, the opposition supported Raffi Hovhannisyan as a rather charismatic opposition politician, if they were really fighters for their ideas.”

In Mr. Martirosyan’s opinion, it is not necessary for the opposition to have a joint candidate, “Because the opposition cannot always have a joint candidate, as opposed to the government, which is monolithic, has one face and it is possible that the opposition has different candidates and they decide to endorse each other or not in the run-off election. Raffi Hovhannisyan is one of the most charismatic figures and it would be right, if the politicians

and opposition forces expressed their support for him. Raffi Hovhannisyan can be the candidate who, if elected, would start real reforms and would take the country out of this crisis.”
