Deputy Chairman of the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) Thinks the Recognition of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic Bill Is Premature

September 04,2012 16:08

Galust Sahakyan, a deputy chairman of the RPA, is convinced that the time for putting forward the Recognition of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic bill has not come yet.

“We know quite well where it comes from and realize what it is for, particularly given the fact that we are the strongest supporters and don’t think that Karabakh is not ours ether.

“New political situations emerge and people who want to gain some dividends can put forward different bills, it would be good, if you advised them to first of all consult with the political majority in such cases, to solve such issues.

“If we recognize it, will the international community recognize Karabakh tomorrow? We act in the framework of the OSCE Minsk Group; that format is acceptable for us and we don’t want any changes in the concepts that have been devised for many years.

“I don’t think this proposal is worth praising. I will not be surprised, if they say in narrow party circles that Nakhijevan and Javakhk are also ours, those are desires and in order to achieve the desired one should reconcile oneself with serious political realities.”

The opposition should put emphasis on certain political issues, I don’t think they do a dangerous thing, certainly, there should be pluralism of ideas, the whole world should know that this issue is always there, that we are capable of doing it, adopting it, but the time hasn’t come to deal with such issues,” Galust Sahakyan, a deputy chairman of the RPA, said about the fact that Zaruhi Postanjyan, a Heritage Party MP, had put forward the Recognition of the Nagorno-Karabakh bill in the National Assembly.
