The Armenian Taliban 2

September 20,2012 13:51

“Congratulations, gentlemen, there are Reds in town,” Staff Captain Ovechkin exclaims entering the billiard hall. However, it turns out later that his agency had managed to reveal only one “Red” spy pretending to be a bootblack. The Taliban has appeared in Yerevan lately. No articulate answer is given to the question what they are doing here and how they

have come here. Anyway, be prudent, dear compatriots, if you see an unshaved person on the street, call the National Security Service (NSS) at once, particularly if you sense that the one who is unshaved hasn’t taken a shower for a long time. Afterwards, perhaps the state will grant you an award for prudence and good sense of smell.

The legendary Taliban are certainly not so interesting, but in our strikingly passive social life, they have made subtle commentators think and offered them an opportunity to make extensive geopolitical analyses what the power centers aim at by sending the Taliban to Armenia. There are some exotics in the Taliban, otherwise our people were compelled to be satisfied with the “daily” news, “A rather serious woman was in my home the other day, her sister works in Petrozavodsk and has seen our ministers bring a load of money and lose it in casinos.” The fact that our ministers are not uncorrupted has been, so to say, confirmed at the highest level lately. It is not ruled out either that they go to a casino somewhere. Two pieces of information, however, are not thought through in the legend: “loads” – there is a more convenient way of transferring money today, it is a bank card; the casinos of the capital of Karelia are not the best in the world. However, what can one say to a woman who has seen a woman who knows another woman… etc.? That person might have seen the Taliban too. Yesterday I had the honor to talk to American astronaut Charles Duke who is one of the 12 mortals on our planet who walked on the Moon. The visit of such a person to Armenia and Artsakh should be happy news for us. However, yesterday I heard another opinion – they say no shuttle and no astronaut landed on the Moon, all those videos are staged here, on the Earth. It is hard for people to believe in phenomena on a cosmic scale, but small intrigues are a whole different story. And we are inclined to believe any nonsense of that genre.

One should not be frightened of the Afghan Taliban too much. Our local “Taliban” are enough to be frightened.
