Another Landslide Alert

September 22,2012 18:56

At 4:08 p.m. today, the rescue service of the Syunik region was alerted that there are landslides near the village of Shahumyan, district of Kapan, in the vicinity of the Dino Gold Mining Company close corporation. The quick reaction group of the regional rescue service went there. Let us remind that another alert to landslides on the same territory was gotten two days ago, on the morning of September 20. As we informed by the following article, there were cracks in the land and a flow of internal waters in this area. The area was taped off, where in case of earthflow, the earth could have flown into the territory of Dino Gold or the Kapan-Goris section of the cross-border road, which is only 200 meters away from the landslide area. The area is still prone to landslide.

The Syunik region rescue service communicated to Aravot a short time ago that there had been no earthflow in the area, but the members of the quick reaction group who had gone to the spot had found out that the cracks in the land observed two days before had become

bigger, which could be because of the earthquake near the border between Iran and Armenia this morning, which was lightly felt in Kapan too.
